Throughout our lives, how we perceive ourselves, others, and the world we encounter is often influenced by our relationships and our experiences. All that is good and beautiful mingles with the hard and ugly facets of life impacting us for better or worse. As we get older, learned thoughts and behaviors along with life challenges can make the pursuit of mental, emotional, relational and spiritual wellbeing feel like an never ending journey of setbacks and failures. We sometimes find ourselves feelings discouraged and defeated. We don’t know how to thrive as individuals, as couples, or within our own families. Our relationships fail, our families suffer, our wellbeing diminishes and the peace we so desperately seek seems unattainable.
So how do we become healthy individuals, couples, families that can navigate the inevitable seasons and trials of life? How do we thrive in our relationship with ourselves and others? How do we overcome our tendency to sabotage our relationships or get into the wrong relationships? How do we get rid of debilitating shame and fear to experience peace and wellbeing within ourself and our relationships?
Brittany is passionate about connecting with individuals, couples, and families to create a therapeutic relationship that fosters healing and growth. From an attachment-based theory, Brittany believes that although much pain can enter our lives through our relationships, relationships are also the conduit of healing transformation, including the therapeutic relationship. Brittany believes that in our pursuit of mental, emotional, spiritual, and relational health, it is necessary to combine evidence-based clinical care with empathetic support to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals. Brittany’s passion is to help clients discover the root of their distress in relationships and to apply principles found in counseling psychology, Christian counseling, and biblical truth to bring about healing and wellbeing.
Graduating with her Masters of Science in Clinical Counseling from Charleston Southern University, Brittany’s education and experience as an LPC-A has equipped her with the knowledge to meet the therapeutic needs of her clients. Prior to working as an LPC-A, Brittany worked for many years with students, young adults, and individuals in vocational ministry. While working in ministry, Brittany recognized the increasing need for individuals struggling with trauma, mental illness, depression, anxiety and other issues to receive proper care and treatment, alongside their faith practices, in order to live more healthy and productive lives. It was through these relationships and interactions that she began to recognize the Lord leading her to integrate a Christian worldview with a clinical counseling education in order to be a vessel of His healing to those in greatest need. From this calling, Soul Care Counseling was created in July of 2022.
When not meeting with clients, Brittany enjoys being active outdoors with her husband, son, and Golden Retriever, Sadie Mae. Her family is actively involved in Seacoast Church in Mount Pleasant, SC. She loves to workout, play golf, dine at all the fabulous restaurants in Charleston, and end her day at golden hour on the beach.
